TMS therapy is a safe and effective outpatient treatment that is FDA approved for depression and under active study in many brain disorders, including anxiety disorders, Parkinson’s disease, tinnitus and Alzheimer’s disease. The treatment uses a highly focused, pulsed magnetic field, similar in type and strength to those produced by a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine, but in a way that can stimulate the brain circuits involved in mood, or other disorders.
Several studies have shown that Spravato/esketamine can dramatically help many people with treatment-resistant depression, often in hours or days. As of March, 2019, our office has given over 1,000 nasal spray treatments of ketamine or esketamine with patients still on treatment for 3 years who come in for treatment monthly. Our experience is unparalleled.
Psychopharmacology is the use of medicine to treat psychiatric disorders. Most medications are administered orally on a daily basis. Our doctors are experts in how to best use medication and have taught many others doctors in this area; they literally “wrote the book”. If needed, we use genetic testing to understand why one medication might be better tolerated or more effective for you, but this is not always necessary.
At Brain Health Consultants, we use therapies that were designed specifically to treat depression, bipolar disorder and anxiety. A course of treatment for one of these therapies is 3 – 6 months. We can provide therapy services before, during and after administering our other treatment therapies.
